OIL FILTER GASKET: SMALL PART, BIG FUNCTION
What is the gasket(s) used for in an oil filter?
In the market, the most commonly used type of gasket is the flat, lathe-cut style, also known as the Lathe-Cut Gasket. This type of gasket can be produced using our Mandrel Cutting Machine.
Less common is the molded style, which can be shaped into forms such as the letters "P" or "L".
Both styles of gaskets provide equally effective sealing performance for the applications for which they are designed.
Though the oil filter gasket is a small part, it serves a large function. The gasket seals the area such that oil cannot seep out as it circulates to and from the filter.
